I think it's useable and handsome. It's soft, but not feminine. I also like the occassional nickname Jules. If you're saying the Jul- part is too feminine, then so is Julius. If it's the -an ending then Jayden, Aidan, and Nathan are too feminine. It doesn't make sense to me.

I didn't think of that butin my experience, Julian is much more heard of than Julianne. But fair point.
