WDYT about the the name Sylvia? I heard it recently and it has been starting to grow on me. If you do like it can you suggest any middle names? Also, do you like the nn Sylvie or can you think of a better one? Thanks in advance

I love Sylvia. It's on my PNL. I'd try and throw out a few middle name suggestions, but it looks like the previous posters have that covered ;)

Sylvia used to be on of my favorite names, but I've lost my former love of it. My mother really likes this name and keeps suggesting it; but I keep thinking it's an old lady name, not a baby name.I don't care for Sylvie, but if you like it, I think it should be a nn, not the full name, that way the child has the option of using the full Sylvia.Sylvia Helen
Sylvia Jocelyn
Sylvia Mae

Sylvia is one of my favorite names. I find it so elegent and classic. I like Sylvie as a nickname and also as a name on it's own. Kind of like Sophia / Sophie, Sophie works well either way to me.Combo's that I've liked in the past with the two:Sylvia Jane
Syliva Josephine
Sylvia FrancesAnd with Sylvie, it just sounds so wonderfully french that I can't help but want to pair with a french middle name.Sylvie Christine
Sylvie Justine
Sylvie Helene
Sylvie Juliette

Beautiful classic nameI really like the nn Sylvie. I think its one of those names that's unusual without being intentionally unusual. I love it.

Sylvia generally isn't for me, but I'd be very happy to see it used. It's lovely and traditional, yet not popular at all. Sylvie is adorable, but I also think that perhaps Vi, Syl and Evie would be cute nicknames. Sylvia Jane is the first combo that comes to mind because it just seems so old fashioned, yet with a bunch of spunk, if you will.

I love Sylvia Kate.I'm guessing Sylvia is getting ready to come back - I'm seeing it more and more of late. Ah well, I'll never get to use it anyway.

I find it very dated. I think the spelling Silvia looks less dated.
Or Sylvaine, maybe?
