Stella. (problem)
One of my very best friend is due incredibly soon, and is having a girl.
Both her and her husbands favorite girl name is Stella. However, their surname begins with "Ler" (which is prn. just like it looks, "lur") and they're afraid that the "-la" sound at the end of Stella and the "Ler-" sound at the beginning of their surname will run together, and sound annoying.
What are your thoughts?

This would really really annoy me! Maybe they could use Estelle nn Stella? It still won't sound great, but better...S xx

That sort of thing bothers me greatly. I couldn't do it because it sounds like stuttering. I suppose if one made an effort to pause between names it wouldn't be so noticeable.

That it doesn't matter AT ALL.Sometimes FN/LN does matter I think. But I think Stella Lerner is just fine. I actually enjoy names like that, I know a girl named Amy Mor-(___) and I enjoy having to say the M's twice. Stella is such a gorgeous name that I would be very upset if they were put off it by something so minimal as that.

I love Stella and it does mess up the flow a bit. But if they love the name that much then they shouldn't let something little like that stop them from using it.

I like Stella but I do think the "la" at the end of Stella, and the "ler" at the beginning of the surname doesn't sound right. I wouldn't use it for that reason.

It doesn't bother me at all, nice name.

It probably isn't the best flow, but I don't think it'd be too big of a deal. The name Stella is lovely imo! :-)

Yeah, I agree. It sounds too choppy and I don't really like Stella to begin with.

I don't see how it is a problem. Do you have a hard time pronouncing lollipop? I'm going to assume the last name is something like Lerner. Stella Lerner is fine to me. I prefer Estella.
