I prefer Derrick.

If you want DEE-drick, I'd go with Deidrich. Dedrick looks and sounds like a deceased Richard to me.

My brother's name is Detre, a form of Dietrich, which is of Theodoric!

In Swedish it's pronounced DEE-drick and most commonly spelled Dedrik.
I kind of like it and I think it's cute. Though I'm not sure I would name a child Dedrik. But I wouldn't mind it on other people's children.

Dieterich BuxtehudeAs for Dedrick, I would pronounce it with the first syllable as "dead" which to me takes away from its appeal. I do think Dietrich is way better, as in composer Dietrich Buxtehude.

With that spelling it looks (to me) like it should be pronounced 'dead-rick'Maybe for the 'DEE' pronounciation; Diederick, Diederik or even Dietrich would be better?

I'd have to go for dead-rick. Not exactly a good name. I dunno...I'm hopefully pronouncing it wrong. It's not terrible though...

I prefer DEE drick myself and is what I would use. I just want to find out what everyone's first pronunciation would be. Thanks for commenting.
