Nera
I'm just reading this book (Witch of Grič by Croatian author Marija Jurić Zagorka) where the main character is called "Nera" . Do you like it? And which pronunciation do you prefer - NEAR-uh or nah-RAH ?
Replies
I like it with the pronunciation NEER-a. It's very similar sounding to Mira which I also like.
NEER-a, like Nero
I don't like it. Sounds like nerves. I'd pronounce it Nearuh.
I'd pronounce it NEH-ra or maybe more like NAIR-ah. To rhyme with Sarah I think would be the easiest way of describing it.
Not sure if I like it. It is unusual but it does sound a bit like Sarah-with-a-cold.

What about neh-rah? I would think in most European languages, e = eh...
Yeah you're right, when I first saw this name I instantly thought it's prn like this but then I did a little research on some other babynames sites and I didn't find this way of prn anywhere *shrugs*
My grandma prn. it NEAR-uh.
It's her name. I don't care for it, but I don't care for many of the names in my family.

I'd say it NEAR-uh. I don't really like it.
