Mandana
An Iranian woman from my class is named this. It's pronounced something like mahn-DAHN-uh (hope I didn't butcher that too badly). I think it's completely beautiful. What are your thoughts?
ETA that there was a Persian queen named Mandana, and an actress Mandana Jones of "Bad Girls" fame.

I think of the word "mandona", which means "bossy" (who likes to give orders).
I also met a Mandana of Iranian descent, and it's indeed a beautiful name.
The first thought was Bandana. The second thought was Mandela.
If I ignore those associations (even though Mandela most certainly is a good association), it's a pretty sound, but nothing special.

Makes me think of a would-be name for a bandana designed for a man: a Mandana. Like a brassiere for a man would be a Manssiere. Without that coming to mind, though, it does have a pretty sound, at least.
