Iris is beautiful, simple, sweet and pure. It's just a really awesome name...it sounds so, like, "clean" if that makes any sense.

I used to dislike it because my dad is an optometrist and I hear a lot about eyes, but I adore the flower so it's grown on me as a name. I think it's classy and sounds very strong :-) My favorite combos are Iris Julia, Iris Kathleen, and Iris Madeleine.

It's pretty nice. I have never seen it on a little girl, but it would be interesting to see.

I think it is a lovely name - and despite the trend for flower na,es (here in England Rose, Poppy, Daisy, Jasmine are very popular) - Iris has remained uncommon - so hopefully will not become faddy or dated (my big fear with names!)
