John Thomas is excellent.
My nephew is John Owen, and they call him that (both names). I forget if there was a reason why - maybe another John in the family? - or if they just preferred the double name. Anyway, it sounds alright. A little formal and Southern to me (he's in NC) but distinctive.
eta - didn't mean to suggest Southern is bad =) I'm just trying to evoke a particular type of formality that does not happen to be my own style. Either you kwim or you don't, I suppose.
