Neith
any opinions on Neith?
people often don't like it because it rhymes with Keith! i really like it, especially the mythology associated with it.
its Ancient Egyptian, meaning 'weaver', 'mother' or perhaps 'water'. derived from the goddess Tanit, she is the goddess of war and hunting but also a protector of women. her role later changed to 'creater of all the world'. Greeks identified her as the equilvalent of Athena.

I prefer Leith.
I agree that it sounds like a contraction of "underneath". I also assumed it was a boy's name. It does have a good history, however, which I like. It's not my cup of tea but you could do a lot worse.
Under_____
I wouldn't.
