Antonia is beautiful name :-)) I like a nickname Toni and Tonya.
I love the name, although only pronounced an-TONE-ee-uh. It's a beautiful name.
My Antonia comes to mind first. (I like the book, although when reading it, I have to constantly work to remember to pronounce it the way it is in the book.)

I love it! It's beautiful!
Two associations immediately pop to mind.
The first is Antonia Fraser, the brilliant British authoress. I highy recommend her non-fiction like "The Weaker Vessel," "Mary, Queen of Scots," and "Warrior Queens." I haven't read her mystery novels, but I'll bet they're a cut above the rest.
The second association I have with the name Antonia is from "I, Claudius," the BBC production from the 1970's. Margaret Tyzak (sp?) played Antonia, Mark Antony's daughter, to perfection.
Both images are of strong, intelligent and resourcefuly women. I'm not crazy about the nn Toni, though.

Love it
The person I associate it with is, if you've ever seen the movie Sharpe's Rifles and the following series, Sharpe's daughter named Antonia.
It's absolutely gorgeous. :-)

It sounds beautiful and strong to me, and most of all useful--like a woman who is beautiful to look at not because she's some heroin-chic model, but because she's been places and seen things, gotten her hands dirty, et cetera. The kind of woman who's beautiful not because she's physically flawless but because of the strength you can see in her eyes.
I think it's a wonderful name.
