Rainer
I've been appreciating the name Rainer as part of my shift toward masculine German names. What do you think? What would you pair with it? Is it as versatile as I want it to be or do you see it as a one-trick pony sort of name that'd only work in the right combo? Combos I've been thinking about include:Karl Rainer, Karl being a longtime favorite
Rainer Koloman, although Boris still has priority with that middle name on account of how difficult it is for me to find anything suitable for Boris
William Rainer, departing from the overtly German theme
Rainer Lawrence, perhaps a more interesting or less sleazy take on one of my favorites Richard LawrenceThoughts?

I prefer Rainier, but Rainer's good too. Karl Rainer - reminds me of something; don't know what. Nice enough.
Rainer Koloman - oh hell yes. This is just glorious in its Germanic-ness.
William Rainer - looks a little too much like a FN/LN to work entirely, imo
Rainer Lawrence - I prefer Laurence, but this is very, very good.It seems versatile enough to me, and certainly works with non-Germanic names. I like it :)

oh hell yes.I thought that as well. :-D I love Koloman. It's one of those names that I just delight in and as soon as I stumbled upon it I figured I'd hold it to the bitter end. Now that you mention it I agree with William Rainer sounding a bit too first name/surname. Thanks!

Love it, although I prefer the English Rayner spelling. Karl Rainer is terrific. I can't come up with anything better and you love Karl. So what's not to love? :-)

I'm glad to have assembled Karl Rainer. Karl is one of those names that was a bit of a stumbling block. I love it and wanted something perfect for it, not just a decent or tolerable combo. Karl Richard almost did it for me but something about it was too abrupt or just not fitting. I think he may have found his match. :-DI'm also happy that you like it. You have such classy taste!
