Re: Amelia vs. Emilia
This is a real puzzle for me. I love Emilia, but Amelia gets on my nerves. I pronounce them identically, or at least so close as to make very little difference. So I suppose it's the different associations that I have with them that tip the scales.Emilia transports me back to ancient Rome. I love names like that and ancient Roman names are a pet love of mine. Emilia sounds like an intelligent, regal young woman.Amelia I picture as a spoiled brat, rich girl. Millie / Milly is a very cute nn, for either one. My favorite nn is Mimi, but I'm in a very small minority on that.I love all of your combinations, with Emilia Charlotte and Emilia Josephine being my favorites. Other ideas (sorry for any repeats):Emilia Celeste
Emilia Benedicta (that ancient Roman thing sneaking in)
Emilia Letitia
Emilia Patricia (= an industrious noblewoman)
Emilia Catherine
Emilia Gisele / Giselle
Emilia Rosalind (two Shakespearean characters for the price of one?)
Emilia Juliet
Emilia Caroline
Emilia Adeline
Emilia Jessamine
Emilia Sophie
Emilia Zoe
Emilia Chloe
Emilia Gabrielle
Emilia Patience
Emilia Constance / Constanza
Emilia FelicityHappy hunting!
