Tora....wdyt?
My husband mentioned yesterday that he liked this name. I know that it is Scandinavian, of Teutonic origin. The sound and meaning "thunder" just seem a little harsh to me- wdyt?
Tora Elisabeth is nice - any other combos come to mind? TIA!

I like it...
It's short, sweet and very spunky. Another option is Tova(h), if you want something with a bit softer sound and meaning (good). I love Tovah too.
Combos:
Tora Hazel
Tora Lillian
Tora Sophia
Tora Frances
Tora Lilac
Tora Sonnet
Tora Jemima
Tora Katriel
Tora Eloise
Tora Emmeline
Tora Madeleine
Tora Maeve
Tora Opal
Tora Cecily
Tora Catherine

Reminds me of Torah, right away, all is needed is the h at the end. Sorry, I don't really like it. :(
I like it but
Tora also means tiger in Japaense.
and there's a movie calle "Tora Tora Tora about war so that puts me off it.
I prefer Thora or Thunder.

The sound isn't harsh, IMO, but the meaning is. Tora Elisabeth is a nice combo though.
It reminds me of the Torah, which is a holy Jewish text.
I prefer Tova, which does go back to the same root as Tora (Thor), and it has another meaning too: 'good'.

Ditto
I was instantly reminded of the Torah. (Not that I'm Jewish but we've been talking about religions in World History lately.)

not horrible. . . not great either. Reminds me of a bull. Torro! Torro! It sounds very similar. im just not a huge fan. It doesnt have much spice or jazz.
maybe combos like Tora Aurora (i like how it rhymes :p it makes a harsh name sound cutesy) or Tora Bethany oo or Tora Mexico!! Something to give it some sizzle.

Dated
Well I'm Scandinavian (swedish actually) so maybe that's why I think it's dated. Maybe other poeple doesn't agree with me.
I know a girl who's name is Ragna (which also is very dated) and she has a sister named Tora. She also has two more sisters and one of them is Elsa but I can't remember the other one's name.
Tora sounds mean to me and just like you said, a little harsh.
