WDYTO Calla?
WDYTO Calla for a girl? Could it work for honoring a Carla, since it is one letter off? And would it be advisable to stay away from the names Lily or Lillian in a sibset? (I wouldn't do anything like Calla Lillian since that would be overkill, but if she had a sister with Lillian as a MN would that be too much?)
TIA!!

As much as a I love Calla lilies I don't really like Calla as a name, it seems unfinished or like it would be a nn.
I think it could very well honor Carla.
I would proably stay away from a Lily or Lillian in the same sibset. If her sister had Lillian as a mn though, that would be fine.
What about Carly?

I don't think Calla could work well as a honouring name for Carla - the origins are quite different. I'd suggest something like Charlotte, Carlotta or even Andrea (the same meaning).
To me Calla and Lillian are ok. as a siblset, though I'm not personally into soft "l"-names. A lot depends also on the Lillia'ns nickname - Calla and Lia or Calla and Ann would sound fine.

I like Calla, I think it's very pretty. I also think it works to honor Carla, as it is close in spelling.
I wouldn't necessarily stay away from names like Lily or Lillian in a sibset (although I dislike Lillian). If the floral name is in the mn spot, I think it isn't a big deal at all. As a first name, I don't think that two floral names are overkill, however, if you're getting into four or five girls with flower names, you've definitely got a distinctive theme. Calla and her sister Rose (or Lily), doesn't really look too theme-y to me.

I suppose its my accent but calla is pronounced the same as carla and most people would see it as a creative spelling of the old-fashioned carla, if its pronounced with a short a like calum it's not a very attractive name.
