I've never met anyone named Estella. It just makes me think of the character in Great Expectations.

I don't think Estella is popular-trendy, but I think there are a few things about it that make it a good candidate for a popularity boom.
1) the ella ending: see Ella, Bella, Isabella, Gabriella, Daniela, Annabella, Arabella, Stella
2) the closeness to Stella, which is already trendy among the antique-revival crowd
3) the literary pedigree-see other trendy (and I don't mean Caden-trendy, I mean Hazel-trendy) names like Atticus, Scarlett, Holden, and Oliver
