Thoughts on Honoria
Honoria is one of those names that I've kept toying with in my mind. Part of me says "Gorgeous", while the other part says "Over-the-top". So I have a few questions for you all:1. WDYTO Honoria? Over-the-top, pretty, NMS, etc.
2. How would you pronounce it? I've always thought on-OR-ee-a.
3. Any middle name suggestions? Or would you rather it used as a middle name, in which case any first name suggestions?
4. Would you ever seriously consider using it?Thank you in advance!
:-D

~ I like it...yet I also think over-the-top...and gorgeous. I've only heard it once, in the costume drama Berkeley Square.2. How would you pronounce it? I've always thought on-OR-ee-a.
~ That's how I heard it, that one time. Makes sense, to start like 'honor' and rhyme with Gloria.3. Any middle name suggestions? Or would you rather it used as a middle name, in which case any first name suggestions?
~ It does work better as a mn I think. You can get away with stuffier names in the mn spot.4. Would you ever seriously consider using it?
~ Probably not...it wouldn't work that well with my background but I do like it.

It's totally over the top for me. I really, really disllike frilly names and this is one of them. I can't picture a normal little girl named this - just some Victorian chick in a bad movie who always behaves perfectly. 2. How would you pronounce it? I've always thought on-OR-ee-a. - Ditto. 3. Any middle name suggestions? Or would you rather it used as a middle name, in which case any first name suggestions?
I think it could be a neat middle name but it needs a super simple first name. Our tastes are quite different so I'm not going to attempt to suggest any4. Would you ever seriously consider using it?
Nope. I'd consider Annora first, I find it much more modern and approachable.

Thanks for your opinions.Maybe Rose Honoria?

It's nice. One of the weird things about me is that I tend to like very strong-sounding and harsh names for girls' - they have a sense of power and strength to them. Rose Honoria is just...so frilly and pretty and flowery and perfect and upper class that it's not something I could get behind. :-/ Nothing against you, it's just not something I could see myself using. I think Rose Honoria is pretty...but what about Ivy Honoria (a bit more tomboy than Rose)?

Ooh, pretty! I agree that Rose Honoria is a bit frilly. Ivy Honoria is more down-to-earth tomboyish.

I pronounce Honoria onn-or-EE-uh, which strongly reminds me of gonorrhea...definitely not somthing I would ever want to think of hen I say my child's name. ;P Your pronunciation is better, but I think the majority will pronounce it like me upon first look (and have the same reaction). I do really love Honour though. Some suggestions anyway:Honoria Marguerite
Honoria Josephine
Honoria Catharina
Honoria Melusine
Honoria Cosette
Honoria FrancescaETA: That I actually really like your pronunciation...it's grown on me so much since I posted my response 5 minutes ago. LOL. It sounds very classy. :)

Due to a very frumpy and awkward character on the programme "Jeeves & Wooster" named Honoria, I have a similar feeling toward the name. It would seem a tad lofty to me even without that show.

Oh yes, Honoria Glossop. I associate the name more with Lady Dedlock (née Honoria Barbary) from "Bleak House."

I love ancient Roman names so Honoria doesn't seem over the top to me. You / she could always use the nn Nora.I pronounce Honoria the same way you do, "uh-NOR-ee-uh". I've thought about using Honor, and someone on this board suggested the combination of Honor Leonie ("LEE-uh-nee") which I fell in love with. Honorine is nice too. Love Honore' for a boy. But I've never thought about a mn for Honoria. How about:Honoria Sophie
Honoria Justine
Honoria Celeste
Honoria Sylvie (hmm, French variants of Roman names seems to fit the bill nicely)
Honoria Pascale
Honoria Emilie / Emiliane
Honoria Julie
Honoria Valerie
Honoria Diane
Honoria Clemence
Honoria Lucienne
Honoria Germaine
Honoria Beatrice
Honoria Claudette
Honoria Eugenie
Honoria Letitia / Laetitia
Honoria Benedicta
Honoria Fidelis
Honoria Damaris
Honoria Juno
Honoria Serena Would any of these work? Thanks.

1. Not my style, I prefer just Honor
2. When I say it, it rhymes with Gonorrhea :x
3. My Honor combo is Amaterasu Honor... Amaterasu Honoria? and I am toying with a character named Honor Amaryllis... Honoria Amaryllis?
4. Nope.

I like Amaterasu Honor by itself. Honoria doesn't work there, in my opinion.
