Lola?
I've debated the name Lola for a while now. On one hand, I find it sweet, refreshing, and original. On the other hand, I don't know if I can see a grown woman named Lola, nor can I see her being taken very seriously. What are your thoughts on the name?

She was a showgirl...Sorry, that's all I think of when I see Lola! That and the song "Lola" about a transvestite (I think it's by the Kinks?). I feel it's too slight to use as a full name, but I bet there are lots of names, not just Dolores, that you could use it as a nickname for.

I've always quite liked Lola, although it has been overused by celebs. I wouldn't worry too much about the song association as a new generation are coming up now who won't have heard the song. In fact, I'd be more worried about the association with the kids tv program Charlie and Lola. "I have this little sister Lola, she is small and very funny...."S xx

I like the sound of it a lot and I think it's very cute, but the bad meaning ruins it for me! I wouldn't want to give my DD a name that means sorrows, so therefore I wouldn't use it.

My aunty is named Lola. Its not a nn or short for anything, thats her full name.
Because I grew up with an aunty (she is well into her 60's now) having that name I never saw it as a younger persons name, I didnt think about it at all actually. Then it occured to me oneday 'OMG, Lola is such a beautiful name!'
It suits her just fine now, just as it did when she was a baby, teenager, adult etc.
I think names grow with their owner.

No.
Belongs on a pet, stripper, transvestite(sp?), or cross-dresser.
So many songs about it, not good associations are made.
Plus, it is not original. Every celebrity and their brother has a daughter named Lola.Love it on a pet.

My thoughts are pretty similar to yours. I've also debated this name; although I find it to be very cute and spunky, it also conjures up images of a drag queen, cartoon character or someone's eccentric great-grandmother. However, I still like it because another image that comes to mind is of a stylish, chic girl. :)

Lola is okay, I do not love it or dislike it. It does sound as you have said in a way, neat. People are going to take Lolas seriously as they would for any other name no matter how nicknamey, unusual, creative, old, etc any name might be. I can see it on a grown woman.

all I think of is a stripper honestly. I'm sorry it would make a cute NN though but not a full FN.
