Hawaiian girl's names
I’ve been looking at Hawaiian versions of English names – and was wondering if anyone in Hawaii - or nearby - could tell me if these names are used relatively often? Just searching on Google suggests they are – but it’s always hard to tell if you don’t live there. Some random (lovely) girl’s names attached below.
Loretta -Loleka
Louise - Luika
Rachel - Leikela
Ruth –Luka (and I know most of this board consider this solely a boy’s name – but it’s also a girl’s name :)
Karen - Kalena
Maria - Malia
Marianne - Meleana
Marylou – Melelu
Melissa – Melika
Thanks for any responses – EV.

Some Hawaiian versions of names are so lovely! They bring new life to otherwise boring names (Rachel is the perfect example for me). From your list I love Malia, Luika, Leikela, and Meleana. I adore Luka, but only on a boy.
Here are some others I like:
Apikalia - Abigail
Elikapeka - Elizabeth
Kala - Sarah
Kekepania - Stephanie
Iakopa - Jacob
Iokua - Joshua
Keoni - John

Interesting, because
the child in that video is a boy, I remember; so I did a quick check and found this.

Suzanne herself says Luka is a boy.
