1. You can pronounce a name anyway you want.
2. I much prefer it said Gem-ah. If you like jem-ah then use that though. I have a friend named Gemma she says it with a "G" sound. I've never heard of a "J" sound for it.

I've never heard it with a hard G sound before. That sounds incorrect to me, but I agree, you could pronounce a name anyway you wanted really.
