Blan
I meet an old acquaintance at work yesterday. She had a baby boy late last year, and he is named Blan. I have never heard of this name in my life, and would never use it! She said she wanted a unique name; her name is Jamie. I was afraid to ask the mn. I have no idea how this name is spelled, nor its origins.

I have heard of Blane a Irish saint also spelled Blaine or Blayne. There is also the name Bland a Latin name short for Blandus.
Blan? Really?

I was going to say the same thing

me too
It's a shame that she couldn't find a name that is both unique and attractive. Blan (I'm assuming it's like "blah" with an -n on the end) is rather ugly.
I agree - it looks like "bland" or "bran" to me, and I'm not sure how she's pronouncing it but my guess would be to say "bland" without the D. I don't like it right now...
LOL. It is quite ugly. If I were going for unique I would go for Alphonse or Rudolph - something a bit grand. Blan sounds entirely ridiculous and, well, bland.
How is it pronounced? Blahn or Blayn?
I'd assume like "bland" without the D but I've definitely never heard of it before. Blaine yes, Blan no.
I was asking because she said she didn't know how it was spelled, and I was hoping it was Blaine or something.
But Emma Jenny never replies to things like this, so it was probably a stupid question.
