I love it though I prefer Katherine (my dd's name). She and I pronounce it with three syllables (the rest of the family with two).I live in Virginia.

Katharine is timeless and graceful. You can't go wrong with it. This is my favourite spelling of the name because it reminds me of Katharine Hepburn. I pronounce it Kath-rin. I live in South Africa.

I love it, but spelled Catherine.
I would say it Kath-rin.

I adore Katharine in all its traditional spellings. My favorite would be Catherine. I think its beautiful, timeless, classic, elegant--the "little black dress" of girl names. I'm in Texas, and I pronounce it KATH-a-rin, but the middle syllable is so quiet it's almost not there.

I've never liked any names ending with 'rine' because it makes me think of brine. My name is Kathryn and I've come to hate all other spellings of the name because people generally use those when writing my name. I've had teachers who have known me for years and yet still wrote 'Catherine' or 'Katherine' on my reports.
I guess I would pronounce it 'Kath-a-rin'.

Like jj2jj, I love the spelling Katherine. It's the way my Aunt's name is spelled. Katharine is my 3rd favorite. Katherine, Catherine, Katharine, Catharine, Kathryn....in that order. I suppose any Katherine would be fine with me.....except maybe the -ryn spelling. That one sort of bothers me.I think it depends. You could say KATH-rine or KATH-ER-RINE. I personally like the second way. I live in Georgia, USA.

Katharine is very good but I love Katherine with an e. I guess I would pronounce it the same way as Katherine so Kath-rine, 2 syllables.
