I recently ran accross the name Gwenaëlle looking at French girl names. I've never heard this one before. What do you think?

at first glance, it looks like French cre8tiviT or a Gaulish version of Grendel the monster (sp?) from Beowulf.
Sorry, but it look comical to me. I suppose it could be a French version of a Welsh name, but I don't think I could warm to it even then.

I've heard it 'gwen-eye-elle' ... similar to Anaïs being 'an-eye-eece'.

In France we say gweh-nah-ehl and ah-nah-ees (well, ee like the English ee but shorter) :)
