AMÉLIE
AMÉLIE
Pronounced: a-may-LEE I just watched the French film Amelie again (I've must have seen it more than 10 times by now). For those have not seen this film, I highly recommend it - it's absolutely beautiful, it is my all time favorite movie. I would like to know if you like the name Amelie as much as I do? For those who know the film, does your love for the film, translate in your love for the name?

Honestly as a French person I find a-may-lee to be having an American accent. a-meh-lee is much closer.I saw the movie, found it fun but very "forgettable".

Absolutely yes!I've mentioned that I like this name before and apparently you have to love the movie to love the name. I would love to name one of my future daughters this, either as a first or middle name. Probably a middle name. I prefer to pronounce it "A-me-lee" because it sounds a little more "American" than French. It is one of my all-time favorite movies that I could watch again and again. Nice to know that someone else in the world likes it too! :)

Ugh, I don't like Amélie. I don't know why, when I love Amelia and Amalia. Maybe the movie was a reason - I seem to belong to that minority who hated the movie Amélie.

I love the name Amelie. The movie was actually the first time I'd really seen or heard the name and I've loved it since then. I pronounce the name as Am-uh-lee though.

Yes, I really like the name Amelie - it is really a sweet, gorgeous name. It is somewhat similar to other names that are popular now, but I think it has got its own character.I also love the film and it does make me love the name more. How could it not? I think I would like the name anyway, but it is certainly a great association.By the way, Amelie is also the name of Madeleine McCann's younger sister (I've not seen it written with the accent though?).Now I want to watch Amelie again...

I like Amélie a lot, and the movie is mostly to blame for it since now I always associate the name to Audrey Tatou and it's just adorable. :D

Amelie is my favorite movie of all time, too! I love the name, but I'm not certain if it's only because of my association of it with the movie, or not. It has a really nice flow, for sure. I definitely prefer it to Emily. It's like the difference between English AGNES (which is hard and a definite put-off) and French AGNÈS (which is one of my favorites, though I wouldn't use it just because people would mispronounce it pell-mell.)Yeah, it's a really beautiful name.

I love the film - it's the first place I heard the name, and it's the reason why I like the name. I'm very much hoping it doesn't become popular!

It's cute! My bff has a cousin named Amelie pronounced Am-uh-lee, so that's what I think when I see the name. But then I saw the pronounciation & although it took a second to adjust, I like it!
