WDYTO Agnes?
And do you know how incredulous I feel that I'm actually asking about it? :PI used to hate Agnes. Thought it was hideous. Still don't think it's "pretty," but I wouldn't call my top name (Zelda) pretty, either (and you know how much I love Horatio); there's just something memorable about it, y'know? It's the Mr. Rochester of girls' names.Do you think it's usable? Fine to put on my hypothetical name/combo list? Deserving of being buried in the New Mexico desert with cement poured on top of it? I'm all ears.(P.S.: I also like Agatha. Which of the two do you prefer, or are they both horrible?)(Oh, and a hypothetical Agnes would SO be NN'd Nessie. In case you were wondering.)

It's growing on me.aak, sorryI prefer Ines / Inez and Annis, but I don't hate Agnes w/a purple passion as I used to. Nessie is an adorable nn; sweet, but not overly cutesy.Agatha, though, as much as I try, I can't like. I don't care for the American 'th' sound (unfortunately, sweet Edith falls into this category), and that combined with the somewhat unattractive 'ag' sound is too much for me. I do, however, like the European prn of Agatha, with the 'th' being prn as a 't'.

I love it!I agree that it's not exactly pretty, but there's something about it that I really like. I like the nn Aggie better than Nessie, but it's not bad. Sadly my husband hates it so I can forget about liking it.Agatha is very nice too, but I prefer Agnes.

Agnes is quite OKay and nicknames are pretty: Aggy, Nessy, Agnieszka.

Agnes is quite cute, I don't mind it at all. I'd put it on the list an then you can think about it a bit longer. Agatha is alright too, but I prefer Agnes.

I like both quite a bit, but I like Agnes slightly more. I wouldn't use either of them, but I love seeing them used.

I've never been able to totaly get behind Agnes. I just don't like it very much. It's fine on other people's kids - much better than MckKynnzieyee or Ma'hdyyissyy-onne or something. It's just not something I would use. But Agatha I love. I don't really know why, but it's a favorite of mine, though I tend to put it in the middle name spot.

Agatha is preferableI prefer Agatha to Agnes, and prefer Agata (the Polish variant) to Agatha. Either way, I don't think they are very pretty or feminine names, both are are a little witchy (no offense to any Wiccans intended). I think I dislike the Ag- sound. Ness would be a nice NN for Agnes though.
