I just commented on this name up a few posts. I don't like it because it's one of those virtue names, which I'm not into. But I don't like the sound of it either because I'm put off by -ity for some reason. Because Seren is a nice name.

I love the name Serena. Serenity is a bit of a guilty pleasure though. It tends to sound too much like a perfume I think.

I like Seren (Welsh for "star") but I always think that people outside Wales would make jokes like "serendipity". Serenity would soon get shortened.

All I can think of is "Firefly", a science fiction TV series where the spaceship was called Serenity. They also made a movie titled Serenity, based on the series.

However, I love Serena. It's very soft and feminine and has a really nice meaning.

It's a sanitary pad, period. (Pun unintended.) I can't see any attraction in it at all. Even without the pad thing, it sounds like a cemetery or a funeral home. There's a day spa (a very low-rent day spa, if I'm to believe what I've heard) near here called Serenityville, which always put me in mind of a nursing home.

If you want to go for serene, I'd choose Serena, I think Serena is lovely.

Serenity as been a guilty pleasure of mine since I was young and heard it on Sailor Moon. It's very pretty, but verges on trendy like the word names Trinity, Hope, Faith, Angel, Heaven, etc.
