Phoebe or Chloe?
So I was trying to think of a name I find spunky and upbeat but not ridiculous and discussing it, as I am wont to do, with Fer. I narrowed the options to Phoebe and Chloe. I went with Phoebe; Fer said she prefered Chloe. So I'm putting it out there. Which one do you like better? Do you think ages well? Middle name suggestions?I don't have the automatic "Friends" reference that everyone else seems to think of for Phoebe, although Fer pointed out that the "Charmed" association negates it somewhat. Also, I know a writer who just named a daughter this, so it's fresh to me. Chloe, on the other hand, reminds me of a dog we used to know, although I don't think of it as a dog-name, just that I knew one. So, which is it, Phoebe or Chloe (and why)?

I love, love, love both of these names and one day I might pick Phoebe and then the next day I might pick Chloe! I think both are sweet, yet spunky and I think both age very well. Today I'd probably go with Chloe, not sure why though.

Chloe's popular now, I think Pheobe will be popular in about 5-10 years. I love Chloe, but wouldn't use it, because I admit I'm a snob when it comes to names I see as over-used. I love Chloe on a 30 something woman, but not as much on a 3 year old, as there are so many 3 year old Chloes now. Pheobe has grown on me, but I'm not sure if I love it. It sort of sounds like "feeble" to me, which isn't a good impression to me. I'm torn. I would say go with Pheobe and at least be somewhat ahead of the trend, rather than somewhat behind it. But if I lived in a vacuum - so to speak - I say go with Chloe. It's the prettier of the two.

I really like them both, but today I'd have to choose Chloe. It just sounds so light and crisp without being flighty. People are always saying that it's so overused, but I've only met one in my life who's around 16 I think.

I love both, but I prefer Phoebe right now because it isn't as common.

Neither mWow you have just picked two of my very least-liked names. I just can't stand the sound of either one of them. Oh and slightly off-topic can't stand Zoe either because it sounds like Chloe. Ick. Sorry.

PhoebeI never watched Charmed or Friends, and I don't have those connections. I think of Phoebe / Phebe in the Bible and other Phoebes from old books I've read. I have met a little girl named Pheobe.Chloe is nice too, but it seems more popular / trendy. I prefer the sound of Phoebe over Chloe.

PhoebeI loved Chloe some time, but then I realised that it is actually too cutesy and trendy for my taste. Phoebe is one of the "growing on me"-names. I like the way it sounds and looks, it has a nice meaning and... it is simply charming! :)
Yes, and Phoebe also looks like a modern name, but it isn't - a good thing to me!Phoebe Samantha
Phoebe Kerensa
Phoebe Grazia
Phoebe Ruth
Phoebe Andrea
Phoebe Melia
Phoebe Olivia
Phoebe Dorothea
Phoebe Constance
Phoebe Mercedes
Phoebe Penelope
Phoebe Zipporah
Phoebe Christiane
Phoebe Aurelia

Chloe. I think it's pretty and a bit spunky. Phoebe has never appealed to me at all.

Phoebe.I can't explain why, but I just like the way it sounds. I think Chloe is more of a "trendy" name as well, which is why I don't like it much.

if you're looking for spunky I think Chloe fits the part perfectly. However I personally don't like it much. Phoebe is much prettier I think. Also, even though it has current associations, it has a much longer and richer legacy than a sit-com. So I pick Phoebe.

Neither?Sorry, but neither Phoebe or Chloe are spunky to me. Phoebe has Charmed and Friends attached to it, Chloe is already slightly over-used to me.If I was forced to chose either, I'd probably go with Chloe, just because I prefer the sound and meaning to the clunky Phoebe. A perfect spunky name in my-not-so-humble opinion is Nina.

To be fair, I honestly do like both. It doesn't help that both have nice meanings. I think Phoebe probably ages better than Chloe, but I think they are both pretty (and spunky/upbeat :P).

My g-g-gran was called Phoebe but (sorry gran!) I think it's awful. Chloe strikes me as better, but here in Britain it's become way overused. I rather fancy Cleo - or perhaps even Clio (the muse of history) - as alternatives.
