Isabeau is a rather common Middle Ages form of Isabelle. It is not made up or male. There were other "boyish" endings used at the time: Mahaut, Brunehault (French form of Brunhild), Babet (bah-beh, pet form of Elisabeth, old version of Babette), Swanheut (Swanhild)...
