Corvus / Corvinus?
...Because what can I say? I dig Latin words. What do you think of Corvus ("raven") for a boy? (Check out the entry for Corbin if you require verification. :D) Middle name, for sure. I'm not thinking on it terribly seriously, but it sounds pretty snazzy to me this morning.Edmond Corvus, for instance. Or do we prefer Edmond Corvinus, in which Corvinus is the Latin version of a surname?
Nathaniel Corvus or Nathaniel Pleasant?
Simon Corvus / Simon Corvinus versus Simon Veritas (truth!)?
Lucien Corvus? Actually, I think I like this one best so far.
Suggestions? And how do we care for Corvus / Corvinus versus Crow, another old favourite? (And speaking of which...ohmigosh, James Corvus / James Corvinus!)Don't worry, I'm not looking at anything so melodramatic as Morpheus Corvinus. ;)Thanks for any help you can give me!Array

hm, i associate it with horror movies. I like Vran/Bran, Corvo or Corveux much more, same meaning, and same sort of elegance, as it does seem like the name of a very austere old aristocrate from an eccentric family. Edmond Corvo/Corveux or Edmond Corvinus, if this were for a story that would be great for the mis-represented good guy in the scary castle, or just a very cool name for a little boy, that stands out.

Ooh I like it very very muchAnd Crow too. I think generally I prefer Corvinus. God Simon is fun. I'm so glad Simon's my favorite name.Um.lovelovelove Simon Crow and Simon Corvinus. I like all of the combos a lot though and I love Simon Veritas so I'm afraid this isn't a very helpful post.I do like exciting middle names for James though. Mine is James Orsino. James Corvinus rocks. Corvus doesn't excite me quite as much.

You've struck upon a guilty pleasure of mine : )Corvus is fantastic, I love it and I could easily see it on a little boy. Not entirely sure how well it would age though. As a middle name it would be great. Corvinus is great as well.Edmond Corvus is fantastic! Make it Esmond Corvus and I would be in love ; )
I actually prefer Nathaniel Pleasant of the two.
Simon Corvus is great and Simon Corvinus has a cool look to it. Not too crazy about Simon Veritas, though I do like Veritas.
Lucien Corvus is also great! Reminds me a bit of Underworld.I of course adore Crow and would be more likely to use it than Corvus or Corvinus. However I would love to see Corvus or Corvinus in use as well. James Corvus is awesome as well, it gives James some edge.I'm still pondering over Corbin & Corbeau as well : )

We like Corvus, as long as we are assured that it will remain a mn. Also, we would like an assurance that they will not be tap, tap, tapping on our chamber doors. Most disheartening.Corvus is better than Corvinus, less is more here. Even with Corvus, I had to shake my head out of "corpus" though. Not that many people would do that, or you'd care if they did. Just noting my initial reaction. Tacky 70's Corvette is the next image in my mind. But you shouldn't toss out Corvus just because I'm weird.Edmond Corvus -- Edmond is too precious for robust Corvus. Edmund Corvus matches better, but I know you don't care for Edmund.Nathaniel Pleasant is nice the way it is. I wouldn't alter it. Simon Veritas is delightful.Lucien Corvus -- I agree. This is your best Corvus combination here. Suggestions: Bartholomew Corvus, Julian Corvus, Octavian Corvus, Edgar Corvus (homage to Mr. Poe?), Sterling Corvus (too birdy?), Gideon Corvus, Benedict Corvus?

Careful with the Jim Crow allusions. One can become too clever for one's own good. Do not tempt the elements. Bad juju. Thanks for a fun thread. :-)

Corvus / Corvinus give off really morbif vibes to me, and I haven't a clue why. I must admit they would make interesting mns.Edmond Corvus sounds very regal. Lucien Corvus sounds good too, but the name Lucien sounds a bit slimy to me. I like it fine for someone else.
I prefer the combos Nathaniel Pleasant (he sounds so humble and great) and Simon Veritas :) Handsome boys.I think Corvus and Corvinus are much subtler than Crow, although the connection is still there. Both have cool sounds, I think it just depends what it's paired with to be honest.

It does sound pretty morbid...similarity to carve, corpus, the -us, the -or, etc, and besides its a raven. But I like it for that kind of.

I suppose they might be a little morbid-sounding, but I'm afraid that's not enough to deter me today. ;)Thanks for your thoughts--I agree on Nathaniel Pleasant and Simon Veritas. Not about to throw those two out, for sure! But Lucien Corvus is really appealing to me, especially since the best I've managed to come up with previously is Lucien Robert. Hmm...Lucien Robert Corvus? :DArray

I like the sound of Lucien Robert Corvus :) It sounds familiar, but not dull. If you catch my drift.
