WDYTO Emmanuel?
I'm trying to find more boys' names I like, and this one struck me as nice. I was just wondering if it's not considered pretentious. I don't like Manuel as much, it looks incomplete.

I love it especially the meaning and as a MN only.
Emmanuel will always remind me of Emmanuel Pahud, who is one of my favourite flautists. I don't think the name is that pretentious (maybe a bit, but it is not as bad as Tristan, Edmund and Gabriel - names that are used pretty often)

The only problem is the Emma-part - it really irritates me, mostly because I'm not a fan of any feminine Em-names. A good nickname alternaive is Nuel, because Manuel isn't that nice.
Some alternatives to Emmanuel:
Emanuel
Emanuele
Hermanus
Immanuel - much more pretentious than Emmanuel
Summanus

If I'm honest, I like it, but would never use it. It seems too 'religious' to me for some reason.
