Sloane?
Love it?
Hate it?
Indifferent?
Have a combo for it?
To clarify- boy or girl, though I am leaning more toward girl at the moment...

Are you pronouncing it Slown or Slane? I really dislike the Slown prn (esp for girls), but the Slane prn is reasonably nice (only on a boy though).
I've always known it as a surname, never a first name. I don't like it on either gender because for some reason the word sloth comes to mind everytime I see or hear this name. I guess it could work for a boy's middle name, but that's as far as I would go.
It's really ugly if you ask me. Boy or girl.
I just think of thick 80s girls with posh voices. Diana and Fergie were Sloanes before they were married.
Despite the connotations, I still think it's better on a girl.

I dunno, I must be in the minority on this one. I think it's a nice, strong name for a girl. I could never use it because we have a car dealership around here called Sloane-Nissan, but I think it's a fine name.
Woo Ferris Bueller!
If you've never seen it, I shall shun you until you do =P. Best day-out-of-school movie EVER! Sloane is a character in that movie. I don't really like the name though. It reminds me of sloths and for some reason food fights. Go figure.

I really dislike the sound of this name. It just sounds . . . yucky.
The only Sloanes I have ever known have been girls (I've met 2 or 3), so while I think of it more as a girls name, I find it a very unattractive girls name. I really don't think it would fare much better on a boy. It's just . . . yucky.

Sloane = surname to me
Sloane is lovely for either gender, but it definitely is best for a girl. It isn't a name I would choose but its very strong and uncommon, but it isn't bizarre.

Hate it. No offence. This was the name of Ferris Bueller's girlfiend in the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". I wondered what such a beautiful girl did to deserve such a yucky name. There's a Sloane Square in London's posh Chelsea district, which in the 1980s gave rise to the disparaging term "Sloane Ranger" for moneyed leisured young ladies that lunch!
It is not my style at all. It is definitley more of a boy name.
Hate it, on both, but especially on a girl. It has a very unatrractive sound, and it does sound very pretentious and snobbish (for want of a better word). It'd be better in the middle name spot. Combo's that spring to mind:
Amelia Sloane
Kaia Sloane
Linnea Sloane
Olivia Sloane
Ella Sloane
Oscar Sloane
Asher Sloan
Micah Sloane
Luke Sloane
Isaac Sloane
I'm not good at pairing a front name with a set middle name, as opposed to the other way round, but you get the idea.

I think it's incredibly pretentious sounding, and mannish on a girl.
No combo ideas, though I suggest it as a middle name if you really must use it. I mean, seriously, compare:
Nadia Sloane Underdahl VS Sloane Joanna Lehrer
Asher Sloane Perugia VS Sloane Leland Dreyer
One side of the equation sounds significantly classier to me.
