Quite ridiculous if you ask me. I really don't like Idol as a name (not a fan of the show either). It seems to me like the mom appreciated the extra attention the weird name provided for her, she wouldn't be sitting there if she didn't like attention to begin with...

I vote for the boys name to be something the mom had picked out, something not related to Idol. (but of your options I like Ryan best)
