Re: Marigold!
I think it's lovely; I love the idea of the nn Goldie. I don't think it's too "matchy" with Scarlett; and it should age well enough. She can always be Mari / Mary if she chooses; and if it's a family name, all the better, it demonstrates real use and real age. Louisa Marigold is perfectly charming, btw. :-)If you're looking for a mn for Marigold, what about one of these? [But be warned: I'm a big fan of alliteration, assonance, and theme pairings.]Marigold Acacia (two nature names together; why not?)
Marigold Adelaide (so sweet; and great rhythm!)
Marigold Amaryllis (again I say why not? they sound so good together)
Marigold Arabella
Marigold Benedetta
Marigold Blaire
Marigold Carolina (I would say it kair-o-LYE-na; but perhaps kair-o-LEE-na if you prefer)
Marigold Carys
Marigold Celeste
Marigold Charity
Marigold Cherish
Marigold Claire
Marigold Clarabelle (which I sincerely think is precious! so many possibilities!)
Marigold Clarice
Marigold Clementine
Marigold Damaris (in this case, da-MAIR-is)
Marigold Eleanor / Elinor
Marigold Elena
Marigold Eloise (as pretty as Louisa Marigold, only in reverse!) **
Marigold Esmerelda
Marigold Eugenie
Marigold Evangeline (I like the -lyn prn myself, it matches the short I in Marigold)
Marigold Harmony (the -ar's, the O's, the rhythm; very nice)
Marigold Gabrielle
Marigold Genevieve
Marigold Gwendolyn
Marigold Magnolia (the M's, the A's, the O's; both nature; both Southern like Scarlett)
Marigold Nereida (nehr-REY-da)
Marigold Noelani (the two long O's sound nice together, imo)
Marigold Patrice
Marigold Rhiannon
Marigold Rosalind / Rosamond
Marigold Siena / Sienna (I like the place name, with one N)
Marigold Sierra
Marigold Susanne
Marigold ValentineI hope one of these appeals.

Thank you sooo much for all your suggetions- You are a gem!!!! I loved many of them but Marigold Eloise stood out as I love retaining the possible nn Lulu and Eloise allows for that- it is very pretty- I think I might present this Marigold idea to DH tonight and see what he thinks....Louisa Marigold or Marigold Eloise????
Thanks again for the great advice- very appreciated!!
