Re: Adrienne
in reply to a message by Tate
I'll include other forms of the name (like Mrs Claire) and how I pronounce them:
Pronunciation:
Adrienne - ad-ree-EN
Adrian - AY-dree-an
Adrianna - ay-dree-AN-na
Adriana - ad-ree-AH-na
Adrianne - ay-dree-AN
I butcher Adrien terribly because I find some French sounds difficult (in fact any language, even English comes out a bit mangled :) ) so I'll leave that one out.
Opinions:
Adrienne - I would like it if I could guarantee that people would say ad-ree-en instead ay-dree-en. I can't stand Adrian on a girl.
Adrian - like it, it's on my list but I don't think I'd use it.
Adrianna - it's ok but not a fan of the AY sound at the beginning.
Adriana - my favourite form, I love it but again only with the ad-ree-ah-na not ay-dree-ah-na.
Adrianne - no, too close to the masculine form.
