Dh and I were talking about names last night and he actually said that he loves Margot- I'm amazed because the only other name he has ever said he loved in Willow so.....I need some advice on the name.1. What general impression does the name give? How would you picture a little Margot?
2. Do you think it makes a good match to DD#1 Scarlett?
3. Which combo do you like from below or do you have any other suggestions? Our last name rhymes with Jovi. Scarlett's middle name is Jean after my grandmother- most of our choices below are family names- there are a few that we just like though.Family names:Margot Alice

~ It's sounds very sophisticated and pretty and would work for a baby or an adult. I picture Margot as being a very quiet, shy sweetheart or a feisty outspoken firebrand. It could match any personality really.2. Do you think it makes a good match to DD#1 Scarlett?
~ Yes.3. Which combo do you like from below or do you have any other suggestions?
~ I like Margot Gwendolyn the best of the family names and Margot Frances of the others. Margot Priscilla sounds really pretty as well.

Margot is an incredibly sweet name. *sigh*
I don't really get pictures of names a lot of the time, but it's a deep red to me.2. Do you think it makes a good match to DD#1 Scarlett?
LOL. Two deep red's. Yes, works excellently.3. Which combo do you like from below or do you have any other suggestions? Our last name rhymes with Jovi. Scarlett's middle name is Jean after my grandmother- most of our choices below are family names- there are a few that we just like though.
All are nice. Plum is a bit silly and it makes the whole thing sound a bit fat.

I also think Margot Gwendolyn, isemay, Lilias, Isabeau and Anthea (i know i just thought it went!) go best. Something old fashioned, too old fashioned, will make her sound like a frumpy old woman! Be warned. No Pearls, Ediths, Ruths, or Phyllis recommended! In fact, most of the names on your list!!! Lulu - noooooo, lol. Lyla? Philomena? Francesca? Olivia? Sienna? (Patience, no.... verity? truth?)It definitly goes with Scarlet, theres a lovely subtle similarity between the two, and they both sound classy.

I used to hate this name, along with morgan as to me they sound like they are very similar. For some reason this name keeps growing on me! So it must have something going for it. Definitly usable and timeless. Also sounds very classy.

1 I think Margot is a beautiful name, my first thought is a sweet and dignified adult but it would be adorable on a little girl. She would probably be fairly spunky and a bit of a handful is my first thought though.2 Scarlett and Margot sounds like a great sisterset. Both names are gorgeous with some sort of elegant bearing to them.3 I like:
Margot Hazel
Margot Lilias
Margot Catherine
Margot Patience
Margot Frances
Margot LilacSugestions:Margot Cassandra
Margot Juliet
Margot Elyse
Margot Holly
Margot Tamsin
Margot Hyacinth
Margot Jael

I love Margot!1. What general impression does the name give? How would you picture a little Margot?:
I think it gives of a sophisticated but spunky air. I tend to think of Margot from The Royal Tannenbaums or from The Diary of Anne Frank.

2. Do you think it makes a good match to DD#1 Scarlett?
I don't think Margot and Scarlett are perfect together, but I also don't think it is a horrid sibset. I think it would be worse to have Willow and Scarlett simply because the double letters tend to get into the themey are imo. However, Willow and Scarlett vibe better together.3. Which combo do you like from below or do you have any other suggestions?: I like...Margot Alice
Margot Hazel
Margot Plum (total guilty pleasure)
Margot Camille
Margot Isemay
Margot Beatrix
Margot EleanorI liked some of the other names, just not as much as the above. My favorite would be Margot Hazel, but since you have a daughter named Scarlett it would get into the theme problem again. My second favorite choices that would still work with your other daughters name would be Margot Eleanor or Margot Beatrix.

I adore Margot!I never really thought of Margot until I met a little girl by that name. She was in a Sunday school I was teaching and visited with her two sisters Arrington and Julia Mary who were 4 and 3. Margot (the spelling may have been Margaux, I can't remember) was 2 years old, she was just adorable with blond ringlets close to her head and bright blue eyes and a cherub smile, the kind of cutie you fall in love with at once. So when I think of the name I usually associate it with her. I too am a fan of Agatha Christie's 'The Mirror Crack'd' but even the image ToveTer gave doesn't immediately come to mind. I think Margot definitely goes with Scarlett as a sister, actually much better than Willow does.
My absolute favorite Margot combo is Margot Eloise, it just seems to have light spunky air about it but still retains all the exquisite beauty of old-fashioned names. You are considering some beautiful combos, in particular I think that
Margot Alice, Margot Camille, Margot Hazel, Margot Adelaide, Margot Eleanor are just gorgeous!
Margot Beatrix is lovely but because they both have two syllables the flow of the combo is rather cut up. But if you were to use Beatrice (bee-uh-tris) or pronounce Beatrix like bee-uh-tix instead of bee-trix it would make the combo flow better.

Thank you so much for your detailed response- Your thoughts on the name echoed exactly what I was thinking- Thanks! I am really loving it but am still playing around with the spelling. I'm warming up to the Margaux spelling just because it avoids the 'o' in my last name and the 't' on Scarlett's...I also love your idea of Margot Eloise but because our last name has an 'o', it might be too much- it's a beautiful combo though. As for Isemay, it's pronounced Is- i- may....I do like it- ethereal sounding to my ears. I also loved your suggestions of Margot Estelle- sooo pretty- wil definitely run that by DH. As it stands, I'm leaning towards Margot Alice because it softens Margot a bit and also adds some spunk.....it was also my grandmother's middle name so I would like to use it.
Thanks again!!!

1. What general impression does the name give? How would you picture a little Margot?
- As a Miss Marple-fan I associate it with the Margot Bence from "The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side". Margot has dark hair and dark eyes, tan skin and she is very tall. She sweares and is impulsive.
The only problem is that Margot on a paper reminds me or maggots.2. Do you think it makes a good match to DD#1 Scarlett?
- It will fit very well with Scarlett!3. Which combo do you like from below or do you have any other suggestions? Our last name rhymes with Jovi. Scarlett's middle name is Jean after my grandmother- most of our choices below are family names- there are a few that we just like though.I like:
Margot Alice
Margot Anne - A bit boring mn, though
Margot Lilias
Margot Phyllis
Margot RuthMargot Frances
Margot Isemay
Margot Beatrix
Margot Eleanor
Margot AltheaMy favourite is Margot Eleanor.

Oh, I love Margot.1. What general impression does the name give? How would you picture a little Margot?
My general impression of Margot is one of elegance and grace. It's a serious sort of beauty, never frivolous. My image of a little Margot is heavily influenced by the only little Margot I know. So, I picture a trim, confident, social little girl with light brown hair and brown eyes.2. Do you think it makes a good match to DD#1 Scarlett? Eh, not really. I find the Scar- and Mar- sounds too repetitive, and I agree with Mar that it's somewhat confusing to see them written together and pronounce the t on one but not the other. I stumble over it, anyway.3. Which combo do you like from below or do you have any other suggestions? Our last name rhymes with Jovi. Scarlett's middle name is Jean after my grandmother- most of our choices below are family names- there are a few that we just like though. FWIW, I don't like the oh-oh sound of Margot Jovi, but from your combos, my favorites are Margot Alice, Margot Phyllis, Margot Beatrix, and Margot Adelaide. One of my personal favorite Margot combos is Margot Adele.

I've got a "he" who really likes Margot, a name I don't much like myself. I prefer Marguerite. However, if I were naming a child Margot I think I'd stay with the French theme - Margot Genevieve, Margot Lisette, Margot Louise, Margot Celeste. That sort of thing.
