Devora
I have been in love with this name since I finally saw the movie "Heavenly Creatures" with Kate Winslet. The name does *not* rhyme with Deborah. It is pronounced dev-OR-a.What do you think? What do you think of:Devora Alison
Devora Elspeth
Devora JuneWhat other combos might sound nice?

A good movie, though quite disturbing (and based on true events) so I don't know that I'd want my daughter 'named for' anything to do with it. Ya know? :-/ As for the name itself, I prefer the Devorah spelling, like Julia pointed out, but the name itself makes me think of the word "devour". Or even "devil". :-/ (And also a very-badly-behaved little girl I know named DeBorah, prn. de-BOR-ah. :b)

I don't mind the movie connection - it is fascinating.

I actually like Devorah heaps better than Deborah. Oh, and I like the h on the end.

I don't like it. It's too harsh, and it makes me think of the word "devour".

i really don't like this name and can see kids teasing her and calling her diva which could either be good if she's outgoing or bad if she's more of a wallflower.
