Both are fine, but it depends on my mood =)If I were to use it in real life though, I'd probably use Sarah only to avoid (less) misspellings, as it's the more commonly used spelling. Other than that, I don't really have a preference.

Well I'm a Sarah and I much prefer the name with an h. It's not just because my name has that spelling either, I just think it looks more complete. I also pronounce them in different ways. Sarah is SAIR-ah, whereas Sara I pronounce as SAR-ah, like you're saying CAR-ah, unless they tell me otherwise. My name is Sarah Kate and I think that combo works really well. Both names are classics and the flow is really good. Plus, the meaning is really nice, Princess Pure, gotta love that!

Sarah!I really like Sarah but I cannot stand Sara. It looks incomplete and misspelled to me, and I want to say it SAH-rah, which I hate.

Sarah Bracha (brah-khah)

Sarah, butI'm not particularly turned off by Sara. I'd use Sarah myself but don't think anything negative about Sara when I see it. I'm tempted to say I like Sarah Elizabeth but that's almost too boring even for me, and I rely on classic names like... well, like very much. No apt simile is springing to mind. :-P Apart from that I like:Sarah Margaret
Sarah Evelyn
Sarah Patrice (A poster on this board has a Sarah Patrice, right? I'm positive that's where I heard it)
Sarah Elaine
Sarah Jane (I also like Sarahjane as a sort of GP that I'm not too guilty about)
Sarah Emmanuelle (for something kind of elaborate)
Sarah Marcelline
Sarah Frances (How sweet is that? It's so down home, particularly if her nickname was Sadie)

Both are fine.I think I'm slightly more partial to Sarah, though; it's the heroine's name in Labyrinth. I've never been really fond of the name before that (it's pretty boring), but it's been growing on me lately.

SaraThe H is unnecessary.

I say them differentlySarah looks more complete. And, I'm not sure if it's my area but every Sara I know is SAH-ra, while every Sarah is sair-uh. Two completely different pronounciations.
vote up1
Same hereTo me they sound completley different. I like both, but Sara is more interesting. I had 8 Sarah's in my year in HS, I know so many of them.
vote up1
Me too. In the UK, Sara is usually Sah-ra to rhyme with Zara, Lara, Kara, Tara etc. Although some people use it as an alternative to Sarah.I prefer Sarah as it's more classic but I find it a very boring name because I know so many of them! I'd put it with a more unusual middle name but can't think of any at the moment!
vote up1
Zara Lara Kara and Tara can all be said both ways too though. I know a KAIR-a (with a C), and I only hear TAIR-a, Lara and Zara go both ways for me
vote up1
Yes...In America, Tara and Cara are often TAIR-a and CAIR-a. TAH-ra and CAH-ra feel more natural to me. I've never met a LAIR-a or a ZAIR-a, always LAH-ra and ZAH-ra. Outside of the US, I don't think "AIR" pronounciations are ever used for those names.(I'm from the US, by the way. I realise my post sort of sounds like I'm not.)I have occasionally heard Sara "SAH-ra" but, though it seems logical, I think it's barely used in the US. Usually, Sarahs and Saras are the same.
vote up1
In America they might, but in the UK and Aust. they can't.
vote up1
Yep! I can't understand that...(m)How does Ar make an -air sound? That really confuses me.
vote up1
These names are pronounced differently for me - Sara is SAH-ra; whereas Sarah is SAIR-a, but I think I just figured out why Tara and Lara, etc are prn TAIR-a and LAIR-a for North American English speakers, if Sara sounds the same as Sarah there!
Aaaaanyway! I like Sarah better, I know a few but it's not a name I've got sick of; in fact I've started liking it more lately. Sara I might use for a book character; it sounds more romantic and aristocratic, but for a regular person I like Sarah.Sarah Adelaide
Sara Celeste
Sarah Bethany/Sarah Beth (Sarah Beth might run the risk of sounding too much like a double fn, although I kinda like it that way)
Sara Naomi
Sarah Sinead
Sarah Israel
Sarah/Sara Flynn
Sara Anouk
Sara Abigail
Sarah Niamh
and of course, the tried-and-tested Sarah Louise.

Definitely SaraI love this name! In fact, it's one of my top favorites for a girl, at the moment. The spelling Sarah is nice enough, but for some reason (I'm not entirely sure why), without the "h" appeals to me far more. It's such a lovely, classy, feminine name that ages well...gorgeous imo! :-)My personal favorite combinations are Sara Laine, Sara Kathryn, Sara Nathalie, & Sara Elisabeth, but here are some other suggestions:Sara Anneliese

SarahI always thought Sarah was the prettier spelling. Also, maybe that's because I knew a rather, um, distasteful girl who spelled it Sara and it always reminds me of her. Either way though, something about that "h" really makes me like the name more than I would without it.
vote up1
Sara but it is my name so of course I'm going to prefer it.
But I also like that it's the spelling that's used in most countries but it's still used less then Sarah in the US. I'm not sure of my favorite mn for it since it's my name I've never thought about it.
My middle name is Mae.
vote up1
SaraHm, and I'm not sure for middle names, I'd pick something not so common and dull.

I much prefer Sara- my given first name. While it can look "incomplete" in some circumstances, I think that it has a prettier look to it. I love the names Sara Odette and Sara Odille.
vote up1
Sara, because it's my sister's name. For the same reason, I'm very biased toward Sara Jean. :)Array
