My brother is named Nathaniel. We switch between calling him Nate, Nathan, and Nathaniel. My favorite is Nathan. I know my grandpa called him Nat when he was first born, but my mother hated it so he quit doing that. She thought it sounded too much like gnat.

I really like Nathaniel and considered it when naming my children. I prefer the Nathaniel spelling because of Nathaniel Hawthorne. I prefer the nickname Nat over Nate, although Nat can also be used for girls' names like Natasha, Natalie, etc. From your PNL, my favorite combination would be Nathaniel Shae for something softer and Nathaniel Chase for something more hard sounding, if that makes sense.

I adore Nathaniel, spelled thusly. Nathanael looks awful to me. My favorite NN far and away is Nathan, but you could also use Than, Niel / Neil, Nat, and El.

I'm not a fan of it, I think it sounds a bit whimpy. I prefer Nathaniel. I'm not really in combo-mode right now...

I'm kind of partial to Nathanael, but the fact is that most people will assume it's spelled Nathaniel. I don't think of Nathan as a nickname for Nathaniel. It's a name in its own right, and always has been. As for other nicknames, I suppose there's always Nat.

I love Nathaniel! I dislike all the NNs, I prefer to just say Nathaniel. My favorite combo is Nathaniel Lee.

I love Nathaniel, only with this spelling. It has such a warm, handsome sound to it, imo.It was my favorite boy name for a while, but eventually fell out of the top spot for a variety of reasons...one of them being that I dislike most of the nicknames for it. (I especially can't stand Nate!) The only nickname I even remotely like for it is Thane, but even that I don't like very much...and that one seems to be too much of a stretch for a lot of people.Nathaniel Aaron

I really like it, and prefer Nathaniel to Nathanael. I personal prefer the nn Nat to Nate or Nathan, though I like the name in its full form the best.I can't think of any good combos off the top off my head, though, unfortunately.

I do like Nathaniel, and prefer that spelling.
Having said that, Nathaniel seems to be a bit of a weak name, I am yet to meet a strong masculine Nathaniel.Other nn suggestions; Tiel and Nat.

I love NAthaniel, it is a soft but strong guys name, and its biblical, which is a plus from my perspective. I like the spelling Nathanael better. My favorite nn for it is Nat. Nathanael Jude
