WDYTO Rudolph?
I'm really starting to love it, plus it's a family name (and good family names are so hard for me to find so I really, really want to learn to love this one!)My main worries are that A) it's too close to Adolph, as many people have told me and B) it's too attached to the red-nosed reindeer. Do you think these potential problems would be alleviated if the nn Rudy was used?Honest opinions (no matter how brutal they may be) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your input:)

I do instantly think of the red-nosed reindeer, er, caribou. :o) The nn Rudy makes me think of this, though: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108002/ and this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudy_Ruettiger. But that's probably got something to do with the fact that I grew up about 25 miles from Notre Dame University. :oD

Love it except for the whole pulling Santa's sleigh thing, and I don't like nn Rudy.Have you considered Randolph?

Sorry it is not my style. Only due to the reference of the reindeer.

But all of the other raindeer will laugh and call him names! You wouldn't want anybody to call your son names, would you? lol Sorry I couldn't resist =P.Yes, as soon as I see this name, I think of Christmas music. Then less than a second later I see Adolph, which I don't even need to explain. Everytime I stumble across this one those are my exact two thoughts.

Haha...I'd add more, but we all know the rest.I don't like it, and it being a family name does nothing for me. Unless you really love it, or if you were to honor the season (and its your favorite song kind of deal), I'd never want to use it (or seen it used). On that note, I did go to high school with a guy, but he went by Rudy, and it was a while before I found out his real name. Whether or not he had big problems, I am unaware.

I like Rudolph it doesn't make me think of Adolph/Adolf and I can get over the reindeer association, though I prefer the spelling Rudolf.

He had a very shiny noseSorry, but that's all I can think of. :-/ Or Rudy Giuliani, maybe. It doesn't really make me think of Adolf much, though.

Definitely. And Rudy reminds me too much of Giuliani. I do not think of Hitler at all.

Rudy is an adorable nickname that can be used on a boy AND a man! And, to let you know, I never connected it to Adolph until you just mentioned it.

I'm sorry, I just can't like it. Yes, I think too many people will associate it with Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer, and I think he would get made fun of.

I have a friend name Rudolph nn Randy. I think of the Reindeer.

Randy has its own problems, but it's interesting nn for Rudolph, if you don't like Rudy or Dolph.

! :)I love Rudolph. It's so dignified and strong and imperial. And red. It is so evocative of a deep, fierce red to me for some reason. I was very delighted to discover that my father had an uncle called Rudolph (sketchy honoring, I know, but I'll take it) and also that Rudolph's Ru and Roberts Ro come from the same root, so I can use it to honor Robert. kind of. Oh, I love it. And I adore Rudy too.A. No, it isn't. No one's ever mentioned that to me, actually. (I love Adolph, too--why couldn't Hitler have been named Aedan or something?!) I think the reindeer association overrides the Hitler one--which is sketchy at best--in most cases. Or at least the ones I encounter.B. Eh, oh well. The people who know him will get over it. Before I considered Rudolph as a name, I considered it...I guess like a title for the reindeer, because I didn't know any Rudolphs, so naturally it would have been ridiculous as a name to me. So the people who know him will get over it. And "Rudy" does help for the people who meet him.

I think it is just too reindeer oriented and I don't really like it enough to forgive that. Rudy is worse. Sorry
