I don't get "too Biblical". Either it is, or it isn't, and it doesn't mean it's beautiful or ugly, it's just a fact...
I have a baby cousin, Malachi Daniel (mah-lah-khee dah-nee-el). I dislike the English prononciation, though...

I love Malachi mostly because of its meaning and I really like the sound of it. I usually have it in the mn spot when I'm making up combos. I don't think its "too biblical". Nn could be Kai prn. KIE if you're pronouncig it the way I am (like Mal-a-kie). Some mn and fn suggestions for Malachi:Malachi Xavier
Malachi Bennett
Malachi John
Malachi James
Malachi Quinn
Malachi LaurencePhoenix Malachi
Scott Malachi
Ambrose Malachi

I like it, I don't mind the way it sounds. I personally don't find it too Biblical at all, that doesn't bother me. I think Kai (the sound of that name, not really the spelling) makes a good and obvious nn. I like:Malachi John
Malachi David
Malachi Peter
Malachi Rowan
Malachi Jude
Malachi George
Malachi Henry
Malachi Thomas
Malachi Seth

Yes, it's biblical, because one of the Old Testament prophets is Malachi (the last one in the Old Testament). I like it, but I have a stronger liking for Old Testament names than my wife has, so I've never gotten to use it. Good sound, in my opinion. I think it will be seen as a known name rather than something zany or made-up, not likely to result in teasing, and not likely to become faddish.Combinations? Go with a single-syllable name such as Tate or Grant or Paul.Nicknames? Maybe "Kye" (or however you want to spell it--I mean calling him by the last syllable of his name). I like that better than "Mal."

Sorry, I misread your question--you asked if it's TOO biblical, not whether it's biblical. I guess that's purely a matter of your own taste. What makes a name too biblical? I don't find anything wrong with a name being biblical, and lots of the most beloved names in the English language are taken from the Bible. Think of Leah, Rachel, John and James. Those are all Bible names.

I love it. It was my favorite boy name for ages.
A few of the combos I have:
Malachi Francis
Malachi Fisher
Malachi Beltran
Malachi Rafael
Malachi Augustine
Malachi Hamza
Malachi Hart
Malachi Paris
I don't think it's "too biblical." Biblical names are all over the place, and names are getting "less biblical" every day. Noah's in the top 20 now and that used to be a very non-mainstream name. Malachi is getting more popular every year (easily in the top 200 now).
I love the sound, of course.
And nns: Kai, Mac, Mal, Mally...But I prefer just Malachi.

Love it. Being Irish, I prefer Malachy, but Malachi is intriguing in its own right. It has a mysterious quality to it. Very appealing.
