Virginia HazelClearly, I'll have to edit it down more and decide on my favourites. Lots of very lovely suggestions. I see what you mean about Lisette, but I'm surprised you find Pauline frilly- I've always gotten the opposite impression from it (probably why Pauline Joanna strikes me).

Actually, I find 80% of French feminine names frilly. I imagine some young girl from 19th century in pink clothes writing a letter like: "Dear Fifi! Cosette came this afternoon to me and said, that Alexandrine had a lovely dress last evening... How are you and my darling cousin Mimi?" :PI'm glad that you liked some of my suggestions... :)
