I agree
Wonder why Kaya doesn't have a word-name like her brothers and sisters.
I might have found something...
According to Wikipedia and various other sources, Kaya is actually short for Kaya'aton'my', a Nez Perce name meaning "she who arranges rocks"

I was wondering that too.
Opinions and a few notes...
It's Molly, not Mollie.
And Kit's name is Margaret Kittredge. Kit's just a nickname from her last name.
I think all of them fit their time periods
Kaya sounds lovely, and her siblings' names are cool.
Felicity is growing on me. I like William, and while I don't like Nan and Polly that much, they fit with the rest of them.
Josefina is very pretty, and Ana, Clara, and Francisca are beautiful.
Kirsten and Lars are okay, but I love Peter and Britta a lot.
Addy is a good nickname, and there are certain full names that I really like for it. (It stinks the book never tells you if that's her full name or not.) Sam is a good strong name, and fits the character. Esther is pretty.
Samantha's an okay name. Fits its story well.
I like Margaret a lot, and the nickname Kit from her last name is cool. Charlie is definitely a good fit for a teen boy from the 30's.
Molly is one of my favorites. Jill and Brad are okay, and I'd prefer Rick over Ricky.
Julie's a decent enough name. I don't like Tracy.
Mia's pretty. I wonder if it's Amelia NN Mia.

I think you might be right... + additional note for thread creator...
about it being the ancestor.
I think it was that Aduke came over on a boat from Africa when she was a young girl. She had a cowrie shell that she had taken with her. That shell was what Addy's mom gave her on a necklace during their escape from the plantation.
I don't think that Addy's full name is Aduke. I think she's probably named after her. But they might never have confirmed it. It could go either way.
((I just looked up about Mia: She's not a new historical doll. She's just the new doll of the year. They've come out with a new one about every year since 2001.))

Oh I know that but I thought I would include her anyway
