I don't know, maybe because when I see Anne, I always would like to pronounce it AHN-ne, and not ANN. I dislike Anne pronounced AHN-ne mostly because I haven't met any nice Annes in my life. (And Anne is a popular name in Finland). I have met many bright Annas and Annies, but Annes are always "normal". The only reason I like Anne is Anne Frank.

But Anne is still pretty, and it is so much better than all those horrible Annalieses, Briannas, Mariannas etc etc.
