Janet or Janice
Replies
My name is Janice! The only thing I really don't like about it is that it's very out of style now, and people see it as a typical post World War II name, and many automatically dislike it for that reason. But I've always much preferred it to Janet, and thanked God that my mother chose Janice and not Janet. Janice is so much softer sounding and more feminine.
Edited to add: I also can't stand the spelling Janis, and was also grateful that my mother chose the Janice spelling. My sister-in-law insists on spelling my name Janis, and it irritates me no end.

I like both. Janice is my mother's name, which is both a positive and a negative (great association but that means in my head it's permanently a "mom name") and I enjoy the sound. Janet I think is a little spunkier and more fun, which I like. Whereas Janice is comfortable, calm, steady, Janet is a bit more ready for adventure. I think I'm going to lean on the side of Janet today, but tomorrow I may feel differently.
Though one count against Janet: immediatly on seeing your post my first thought was "Damn it, Janet!" and it's still stuck in my head now. But Janice gets the song stuck in my head too. (When my mother's late to pick me up I accidentally say "Damn it, Janice, where are you?" and then have the song stuck in my head for bleeding ever.)

Janet.
Janet makes me think of Janet Jackson and Janice makes me think of Janice Dickenson, and I hate both of those women. But if I had to choose one, I'd go with Janet. I had friend in high school named Janet and she was valedictorian of our class and one of the nicest people I've ever met :)
