Name of the Day
It's a "game" we've played before -
If you were havinig a baby today, what would you name it? One boys combo and one girls combo, that's it. :)

Like always Boaz Marino Constantine or Junia Odilia Elodie. All mns are honouring.
But let's say, to make it more interesting (because I always post the same combos) that I wasn't allowed to use any of those names, I wouldn't honour anyone. Then I'd be:
Thorsten Romeo Andreas
or
Eira Winter (mayeb Eira Morgana Winter)

Ansel Ben Constantine or Amanda Jessie
ohh, Ansel! I like it a lot.
Clara Mavis Rose and Jacob Seth Daniel
I love Jacob Seth Daniel and Rose.
Violet Amelia or Raphael Jonas
Ariella Jasmine or Jude Hamilton
I'd consider adding a second middle name to honor family, and in that case: Ariella Maria Elisabeth or Jude Hamilton Luis (Maria for my grandmother and Luis for my grandfather).

I don't really like Charli that much. It just looks too short. Charlie is more aesthetically pleasing to me.
And yes, I agre. Mackenzie on a boy is handsome (pun intended?). I was so happy that I managed to fit it into one of my favorite combos. Doubly happy because it solved my Alexander dilemma: I had two separate combos, Benjamin Alexander Scott and Milo Caspian Alexander. I loved both of them, and wanted to keep both Benjamin and Milo. But I couldn't figure out a name to substitute in one of them. Then I realized that Mackenzie would work, which allowed me to use my favorite boy's name AND keep both combos.

I love Amelie Skye (but prefer Skye Amelia or Amelia Skye a little better)
At the moment, Joel Gideon and Carys Blythe

Sorry to say, I'm a tad disappointed. Carys seems like it's on everyone's list lately, and Blythe is so lukewarm to me. It sounds good, but it just doesn't move me. I like Joel Gideon, though I'd prefer Noel. :)
Evening Rae or Ptolemy Ray, I would think.

Brett Elizabeth or Boris Koloman.
I've liked Brett lately, for whatever reason. Elizabeth is my number one favorite so I'd hate to not use it at all, and it's a nice obviously feminine balance for the ambiguous Brett.
Or Roberta Elizabeth, if I get to cheat. ;-)
And Boris is just a long-standing favorite that's taking its turn as the theoretical forerunner. :-P Especially if this mysterous last minute baby is mine and mine alone to name! If little Boris took issue with his name and wanted a nickname I'd encourage Kolo, which I love (but I can't find a satisfactory middle for Koloman, so it's more or less not moving from the middle point).

I like Brett Elizabeth. It's very Hemingway, sleek and sophisticated.
I stumble over Boris Koloman and almost say Boris Karloff. Boris is not really my style, but I think I'd like it more if it was not combined with a K middle name.

Boris
Boris isn't really my style, either, but it's just one of those names I can't shake. :-) Koloman is actually the only name I like with it that I've come up with so far--it's a tough one to pair something with for me. Things either sound really mismatched or over-the-top stereotypically Slavic, know what I mean?
Would you buy Boris Emil, aesthetics of Boris aside?

I like it! Boris Emil gets a thumbs up from me.
Good. :-)
I'm starting to like it the more that I look at it. That's good news for me; Boris is a hard one to put in a combo.

Dexter Fox
I find this so quirky, lovable, and completely handsome.

Aww, I love Winter Blackbird! Dexter Fox is awesome and I love the repeat Xs here. Dexter reminds me of the cartoon, Dexter's Lab, which is cool and I really like Fox as a mn.
Ooh!
Dexter Fox...love it! Love the repeated x's, and it doesn't hurt that Dexter is a fave and I find Fox acceptable as a mn since it's a surname and surnames as fns & mns are in frequent use. ;o)
Winter Blackbird evokes a nice mental image, but it definitely falls into the category of "liking it on someone else's child."

Oliver Zane is very nice!
I must say, as an autumn baby with the name Korrine, I heartily approve of Autumn Corinne!
Oliver Zane is nice, too, but I'm really smitten with Autumn Corinne.

Your combos are lovely. I like both of them. Sebastian is awesome, and I love Elenna.
I like all your names individually, especially Sebastian & Aina...and I'm in a 3-name combo mood today, as well.
This is purely fantasy on my part, as we (almost) have a combo picked out for our little Jelly Bean, and we probably won't be having any more children after her. Also, this is what I would name them, without any input from anyone else. ;o)
Boy: Malcolm Eben Cornelius (Mac), or possibly Cornelius Malcolm Eben (Neil)
Girl: Cordelia Margaret Genevieve (Delia or Delia-Mae), or possibly Margaret Cordelia Genevieve (Megan or Maret)

So what's this "almost-picked out" combo, hmm?
Just wondering.
And your boy combo is so handsome sounding. What about Malcolm Cornelius Eben (Mac)? I think it flows better than the two you have. But I love the names themselves.
The girl's combo is stunning (though I'm not surprised, as I've always loved your combos.) Both versions are beautiful. I love Delia as a NN. For the Margaret one, what about switching Cordelia and Genevieve? It seems to improve the flow.

I like Malcolm Cornelius Eben, too. I think you just can't go wrong with those 3 names in any order!
Ooh, Margaret Genevieve Cordelia is nice, also. Only problem is, I have a hard time prn -t Ge-, so it comes out sounding like Margareh Genevieve Cordelia. Yeah, ok, I'm super-picky!
As for the "almost picked out" combo...I think the top 2 mn contenders are Elyse (I like it a lot, but not so much with Evangelynn) and Terese (DH seems to like it, but not as much as he likes Elyse). Thus, if we add Belrose as a 2nd mn, our choices come down to Evangelynn Elyse Belrose B. and Evangelynn Terese Belrose B. Of those, I'm not really fond of the E.E.B.B. initials (or E.B.E.B. for that matter). Plus, when it comes to nns (and I'm big on nns), there isn't a whole lot one can do with Elyse (Elly, Liese), but with Terese, at least there's Tess, Teri, Tera, & Reese (not that I'd actually use Reese as a nn, but it's an option).
Meh, it'll all come out in the wash. :o)
Edited for editing. :o)

Y'know, I never used to like Margaret, either, but I'd definitely grown on me. ;o)
I wish I could convince him to use Cordelia, too! (I'd be really surprised if he went for Genevieve, since there's already a soft g in Evangelynn and he doesn't like repeated sounds like I do). I did give him Terese / Therese to chew on last night, and I didn't get an immediate "No." Just thoughtful silence. :o) I told him, "Mull over that one for a few days & then get back to me." He seems favorable, though, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :o)

Not sure on Eben, but otherwise love all of these combos.
It doesn't hurt that the girl's combo has three of my favorite names it it.

Sholema...
I have no idea where it came from originally, but it was my Great-Great-Grandmother's name, and I think it is so gorgeous. Do any of you know where I might find out more about it?

From what I can tell, it appears to be the feminine form of Sholem. I'm guessing (an educated guess, but a guess nonetheless) that Sholem is a variation of Shalom, meaning peace? Perhaps someone more knowledgable can either substatiate or refute my theory. :o)
Yes.
Sholem is the Yiddish version of Shalom. Sholem Aleichem is the pen-name of probably the most famous Yiddish author of all time.

What's Sholema's history/etymology? It has a lovely sound, and I'd love to learn more about it.
I really like Nathaniel and Brynn Olivia. I like Brynn Olive, too but it probably sounds too much like a name brand of canned olives to actually use. ;o)
I love your taste so much. ;o) Especially love the 2nd mn for each & how they relate w/o being overly themey. Personally, the only thing I'd do is change Simon to Simeon (since I prefer it).
You really like that Merit person, don't you? *grin* Your combos are great!

Wow, those are awesome...
Caspian is one of my favorites (my 5th favorite boys combo is Milo Caspian Alexander). Bjorn is interesting (and seems to fit what I've seen of your combos). And Orion is quickly rising on my GP list.
Winter Eowyn Eve just has this amazing aesthetic feel to it. I love how it is so soft sounding. Winter is on my girl's GP list. Eowyn sounds amazing and I love the meaning and the literary connection (though I haven't actually read Lord of the Rings) Eve just fits in the combo.
