Did her mom read The Joy Luck Club?A little girl in the book The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan is named Waverly by her mother; she wanted to give her daughter an "American" name so she named her after the street they lived on. I had to read a passage from this book when I was young and always remembered Waverly because it's such a strange name.

I just saw this name somewhere! I thought it was interesting.

It makes me think of Waverly Insurance, which I know is from some movie, but I can't recall which... I also think it's a rather horrible name for anyone, but especially a girl....AH HAH! It's from Entrapment! Oh man, I love Sean Connery. But I digress. Now I can sleep peacefully tonight. :)

Last name, ugly and does she waver a lot?

It makes me think of someone who "wavers" constantly on an issue, maybe according to whoever's winning at the moment. Who wants to make their kid sound like they're horribly indecisive or a mindless sheep?Besides that, it's a just another "unisex" (but a boy named this would catch Teh Ghey!) surname used on a girl to me. Tryndee and boring, nothing more.

I kind of like it, but on a girl. I would never really use it though.

I don't think it's great. My husband pointed out that it sort of sounds like Beverly - not a name I love either. What is interesting is the relationship between an old dated name (Beverly) and a relatively new creation (Waverly).

I keep wondering if her hair is very 'waverly'. :P I really don't like it.

I find it quite cute, but it overwhelmingly reminds me of a really daffy character that was on a primetime soap here in New Zealand for years lol.

It's ugly. :(

It's a lot more feminine than most other surnames I've heard used on girls. I can't say I really like it, though.

It's ok, just not something I would use.

I don't like it at all. There is an inn in the town I live in called The Waverly. It's very surnamey & I hate those types of names, especially on girls.

I don`t know, a little crazy I think, but there are worse names than Waverly.

IMO it's horrible.
