Without even thinking of the HP connection
I can tell you I dislike it. It's too close to the world severe for me, and the name just seems too adult and cold for a child. I just can't see the appeal at all, honestly. Sorry.

AndI think of sever or amputation...*shudders* Not a great association for a child's name.

ExactlyIt's odd, because I love the softer Sévérine, but Severus sounds ugly, and I instantly think of amputation. No way I could see a child called Severus. (I remember hearing the name of Harry's third child and thinking, "Who would do that to an innocent kid? Two awful names at once? Especially with older siblings James and Lily? That simply isn't fair at all.") So, yeah, I do not see the appeal.

Me too.I mostly imagine someone's leg being crudely lopped off. Not something I want to connect with my child!
