Naoise
I came across this name while reading some irish mythology and i think it's really pretty, i know it's a masculine name but i think it looks and sounds very female. So what are your opinions on the name Naoise?

Its a boys name to me, the similar sounding Nisha is female though

Really? Do you think Joshua sounds feminine too? It's almost the same set of sounds . . .Naoise is a fine name for a boy. If you want those sounds on a girl, use Nisha (it's Indian). I also know a lady from Sri Lanka named Neesha - probably the same as Nisha but transcribed differently. Nisha is fine for a girl.

When I saw it I thought it was a girls name :O

Its a boys name, but if you like the sound you could go with the Indian name Nisha.

I like it in theory, but would never use it. It would get mis-pronounced all the time. And you're right, it does sound feminine. Reminds me of the girl's name Nisha

It's a boys' nameAnd should remain that way, regardless of how 'feminine' it might sound or look (I personally don't think it does).I like it, it's on my list, for a boy only.

My eyes over look the aso I am reading Noise. Female was my first thought when I saw it, and I would never have guessed the pn that is stated on this site.

For one thing, it's awful on a girl. There are enough girl names out there without stealing all the boys' names. That said, I hate it on either gender, sorry. It sounds ugly and insubstantial and looks like "noisy".

I love the name myself. But for living in Canada I don't think the sound would go over so well and the spelling would confuse everyone.

It's okay, I guess. I do agree that it is more feminine, soI too would like to see it on a girl.

I like the sound of it, but the spelling is to close to "noise"

I don't find it appealing, but most Gaelic names fall into that catagory for me. Visually, it's so close to the word "noise" that I'm turned off.I do agree that it sound more feminine than masculine. It would be okay as a mn for either gender.
