Bela ( for a girl)
WDYT of Bela for a girl? I know it's a boys name and prn. BAY-luh but I'm starting to like it as a nn for Isabela or Anabela. I think it drains some of the sugary sweetness out of Bella (with 2 Ls)and makes it more down-to-earth and usable, even though it is pronounced the same way.

Bela (beh-lah) is one of the many Yiddish forms of Bella (beh-lah again).
Baila / Beila / Bayla and so on, are forms prononced bye-lah or bay-lah, depending on the accent.

I know a girl named Bela. The only person who knew she had a boys name was a guy from Hungary. The parents knew it was boys name but thought it sounded like a pretty name and would be great for a girl.

It's cute but I prefer Bella.

Sure, I think Isabela nn Bela works fine, though I don't really like Bela (or Bella) at all and would rather see Iso/Izzo/Izzy (or Ana for Anabela). But your pronounciation doesn't make sense to me. It would still be pronounced BAY-luh if you used it on a girl as a nickname for Isabela (ee-suh-BAY-luh) or Anabela (ah-nah-BAY-luh), right?

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I pronounce Isa/Anabela as Isa/AnaBELL-a (not BAY-la). Sorry.
