Opinions on Werner
What is your opinion on Werner? Do you think it's too strange that it would "stick-out" among the more regular/common names or blend in? Also, does it seem "old-fashioned"? I'd really like to hear what you guys think because this name is really growing on me.Also, any opinions on Drystan would be great. TIA

This is my ex-Spanish teacher's last name. She was very annoying so I can't get that past me, but I think it fits in with today's names. Not too old fashioned to my ears either.Drystan's not my style but not awful; I'd prefer Tristan.

I really like Werner. I can see Werner on a little boy.

I don't like Werner very much. It makes me think of the word "weiner". If I were going to use it, I'd spell it Verner to match the German pronunciation. It's more palatable that way.

I'm not particularly fond of Werner. Werner Klemperer (Colonel Klink on Hogan's Heroes) and Werner Heisenberg (head of the Nazi's Atomic Energy Project) are the first Werners to pop into my mind, so it's hard for me not to think about Nazis. Plus, where I live, enforcing the v pronunciation would be an uphill battle. The w pronunciation is very surnamey and uncomfortably close to 'wiener.' Drystan looks like a chemical to me or, as someone else pointed out, like a cold medicine.

Werner - too surnamey. Though it would fit in because last-names-as-first-names are very trendy.Drystan - sounds like a kind of over-the-counter cold medicine?

I also prefer the Verner-pronounciation to Werner. I think it feels a bit old-fashioned but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I think most old-fashioned names are lovely on children and it's always nice to see a name that is not so common being used.
