Ellison and Jefferson
I've started liking Jefferson and Ellison for boys. although I suppose they could both be used for girls, and I've only ever heard Jefferson on a girl.
opinions. I'm sure they'll be iffy.

Jefferson on a girl? *gags* I have seen Ellison on a girl, but I really don't care for ANY -son names on girls at all (although Allison is tolerable). They are both ok for boys, I suppose, but just a bit too surname-y for my tastes.

Allison is different though because it was a medieval pet form of Alice not a name meaning son of.

I agree, and I know. I thought about putting that, but I didn't want to get too far off topic. :b

Jefferson on a girl???To me that's a boy name. I actually love that name and wanted to use it (and call my son Jeff) for my son Nick, but dh vetoed it.Now Ellison actually sounds like it could be unisex to me.

Thank god you like them for boys! That's my first reaction...Jefferson on a girl...I shudder to think.Honestly, I don't really like them personally, since I'm not a big fan of surnames as names. But they're not horrible. I like Ellison better of the two, partly because Thomas Jefferson isn't the most savory namesake, and also just because Ellison is less common. But it does sound like Alison, which could cause some confusion.
